It seems that a Gauguin painting exhibited at the National Gallery of Art of in Washington, D.C. was attacked Friday. Good News first: the painting was unharmed (which is good, as it's valued at $80 million!) due to a Plexiglas shield. Watching the "State of the Union" address from last night. In a lot of ways, it's the same thing as every other, a lot of promises and hope and vague plans, backed up by rhetoric. In other news, the federal court system saw the light and granted me my excuse from jury duty, so I've got a year's reprieve. Guess we'll do this again, same time next year.

Called the clerk at the Tacoma Federal Courthouse to see what I could do. Took a couple tries., but got to a human and asked for advice. She said to just fill out the form, state the financial hardship, and they'd defer me. Great, I said, but the rules state that I cannot get "unlimited deferrals" for financial hardships, so what would happen ( Read more... )

Fuck me sideways. Just checked my mail, and there's a jury summons in it (well, the "2-week call-in term" thing, but it's still a chance).
